Suddenly! The European Union announces the implementation of tariff countermeasures against the United States, with the time and amount determined

According to the latest report from Reuters, the European Commission announced on March 12th that the EU will impose retaliatory tariffs on US products worth 26 billion euros (approximately 28 billion US dollars) starting next month in response to the US imposing a 25% tariff on all imported steel and aluminum.
Earlier that day, US President Donald Trump's measure to impose a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports to the United States has officially come into effect, and previous exemptions, duty-free quotas, and product exclusion measures have also expired.
The European Commission has announced that it will end the current suspension of tariffs on US products on April 1st and will fully implement retaliatory tariff measures against the United States on April 13th!
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, told reporters: "The countermeasures we have taken today are strong, but also modest. Since the United States has imposed tariffs on products worth 28 billion dollars, we have responded with countermeasures worth 26 billion euros."
The EU must take action to protect its consumers and businesses
Von der Leyen added, "This is consistent with the economic scope of the US tariff. Our counter-measures will be implemented in two steps, from April 1 to April 13."

It is reported that the tariffs currently suspended by the European Union on the United States apply to a range of products, from ships to bourbon whiskey to motorcycles. The EU has stated that it will initiate a two-week negotiation to select other product categories.
The EU stated that the new measures will target goods worth approximately 18 billion euros, with the overall goal of ensuring that the total value of EU measures corresponds to the trade growth value affected by the new US tariffs.
Von der Leyen said: "At the same time, we will always keep an open attitude to negotiations."
We firmly believe that in a world full of geo economic and political uncertainty, imposing such tariffs to increase economic burden is not in our common interest. We are ready for a meaningful conversation
The proposed target products include industrial and agricultural products such as steel, aluminum, textiles, household appliances, plastics, poultry, beef, eggs, dairy products, sugar, and vegetables.
