Recently, it was reported by the Nanning Railway Bureau Group Co., Ltd. that since entering the fourth quarter, the demand for iron-sea intermodal transport in the Western Land-Sea New Corridor has continued to strengthen, with an accelerated growth rate in cargo volume. As of November 20, the cumulative transportation of container cargo by the Western Land-Sea New Corridor has exceeded 800,000 TEUs, reaching 805,400 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%.
Since the beginning of this year, the foreign trade cargo sources for the Western Land-Sea New Corridor have continued to grow, with rapid increases in goods such as lithium ore from Australia and rubber from Southeast Asia. Products from advantageous industries such as onions from Gansu, yak jerky from Tibet, and sugar, auto parts, and boards from Guangxi have also accelerated their 'going abroad'.
Entering the fourth quarter, the National Railway Nanning Bureau has further promoted comprehensive logistics services, customizing full-process logistics solutions for loading, transportation, and information services for customers, attracting cargo sources such as soybeans from Brazil and coal from Indonesia. The new corridor trains completed the transportation of 100,000 TEUs in 27 days, shortening the time by 13 days compared to the previous 100,000 TEUs. Data shows that since the fourth quarter, the average daily cargo transported by the new corridor trains has reached 3,205 TEUs, an increase of 862 TEUs or 36.8% compared to the average daily volume in the first three quarters of this year.
"This year, the Qinjuzhou Port East Station has added one cargo line, with the highest number of operations in a single day reaching 1,220 times, and the average daily operations increasing by 50% year-on-year, reducing the cargo stay time at the station by more than one day, which lowers the transportation cost by 150 yuan per container for customers," said Wei Wenkang, the station master of the Qinjuzhou Port East Station of the National Railway Nanning Bureau Coastal Railway Company.
As of now, the types of goods transported by the Western Land-Sea New Corridor iron-sea intermodal trains have increased to 1,163, covering 156 stations in 73 cities across 18 provinces (regions, municipalities) in China, and reaching 542 ports in 125 countries and regions worldwide.
