Breaking news! Major layoffs at a logistics giant! Over ten thousand employees laid off.

According to the business daily Børsen, at the Danish Chamber of Commerce annual meeting held on Thursday, DSV CEO Jens Lund revealed the expected employee layoffs following the merger of DSV with Schenker . Between 10,000 and 13,000 employees will be laid off.

Lund stated: "Some processes within the Schenker system are very cumbersome, and we have the capability to better streamline these processes. Generally, in such transactions, the total number of employees is reduced by 6-8%, and a similar situation may occur in this transaction." Børsen pointed out that the total number of employees at DSV and Schenker is 160,000, and based on this ratio, the number of layoffs corresponds to 10,000 to 13,000. This is the first time DSV has provided specific figures regarding expected savings at the employee level.

In acquisition activities, if there is functional overlap, DSV traditionally follows the "best fit" principle to select outstanding employees. Previously, after the merger of DSV and Schenker, a team of 500 top managers was formed based on this principle.

Additionally, DSV previously announced that it expects the synergies generated from acquiring Schenker to reach 9 billion Danish kroner (approximately 1.41 billion USD) by the end of 2028. DSV also expects to complete about 50% of the integration work by the end of 2026 and 75% by the end of 2027.
